Crafted By Hand Exhibitors November 2018
40 exhibitors showing craft, art and design of the highest quality. Showcase stands at this event focus on paper artists. Look out for the demo stands where you can watch or learn new skills.
This Winter we are featuring a couple of stands who show the greatest of skills in their chosen craft. In November's Crafted By Hand we have 'Paper' as our theme, and extremely excited to have two renowned paper artists; Lucy Jean Green & Anna Cook!
Lucy Jean Green
Lucy is a 24 year old Kinetic Artist and Paper Sculptor from a little village named Mytholmroyd, West Yorkshire.
She graduated from MMU in 2015 and since then she has become a professional freelance artist and prop maker.
Lucy specialises in creating paper sculptures and delicate automata inspired by mythology and fact surrounding birds. Every part of her work is handmade, and by hand cutting the paper and hand-crafting brass mechanisms, each piece Lucy creates is unique.
Anna is a self taught paper cutter with a background in design and printmaking. Her inspiration for her work comes from contemporary pattern design which is combined with a
fascination for the detail in old botanical drawings.
Anna creates three dimensional works with intricately
cut layers of paper mainly themed around woodland birds and animals or quirky buildings.
Anna's work is predominantly in paper which she enjoys experimenting with; folding, sculpting and using different cutting techniques.
With every piece of work, Anna challenges herself to achieve a more detailed and precise cutting technique, in order to breathe life into the subject.
